Shark Tooth Seminar and Dive

Venice Dive Center will be hosting a Shark Tooth Seminar and Dive.  Venice, Florida is known as the “Shark’s Tooth Capital of the World” due to the millions of shark teeth that wash up on our sandy, white beaches.  There is even a Shark Tooth Festival held April 10th-12th. And while finding these amazing gems along the shore is incredible, how would it feel to actually find one yourself on the bottom of the ocean?

Each day, Ben Schultz, local fossil expert, dives down to discover more teeth and fossils beneath the surface.  Ben has spent countless hours below and has a wealth of knowledge that he will be sharing with friends of Venice Dive Center for 2 free special events.

Ben Schultz, Local Fossil Expert, Shark Tooth Seminar and Dive

Join us on Wednesday, February 24th at 7:00 for the Shark Tooth Seminar as Ben explains what types of fossils can be found off of Venice and Nokomis shores and why.  He will also discuss techniques for finding teeth.  Doors will open at 6:30.  Registration for the Shark Tooth Seminar and Dive is preferred.  Please call 941-497-5985.

On Saturday, February 27th at 8:00, join us for a DONUT DIVE.  Ben will be leading the Shark Tooth Fossil Dive off Service Club Park Beach, 1190 S. Harbor Drive.  Ben will take divers to a dive spot where there are fossils.  New found knowledge can be put to the test as divers work to find fossils for themselves. Registration for the free Shark Tooth Seminar and Dive is preferred.  Please call 941-497-5985. Feel free to come to one or both of the classes. Gear, tanks and airfills not included.

*A minimum of Open Water Certification is required for the Beach Dive. Venice Dive Center has rental gear and air tanks available as early as Friday a.m. if needed on a first come first serve basis, but please arrange for pick up prior to Saturday’s 8:00am dive.

Our Brand New Look!

Venice Dive Center has experienced many changes over the past several years.  Previously known as Scuba Quest, it was purchased by current owner, Jeff Carter, in May 2012.  During that transition it was dubbed Scuba Quest of Venice to distinguish it from the other Scuba Quest stores throughout Florida.  The following year it acquired it’s new name, Venice Dive Center. Expansion and better location was on the horizon in 2014 as the shop moved up the street from Venice to Nokomis.  And now, a year and a half later we THRILLED to reveal a well needed remodel.

The layout of the store allows for optimal experience for our customers to explore products, move throughout the shop and consult with staff.  New hardwood flooring has been laid, slat wall has been hung,  wall color has been changed, and lighting has been increased.  There’s even a hammerhead shark, our ambassador, Bruce, to welcome you to Venice Dive Center!  We look forward to seeing you this weekend and sharing our Brand New Look Sale.  Stay tuned as we continue to reveal new and exciting products and experiences coming to Venice Dive Center.

Welcome Bruce!

We would like to introduce you to Bruce.  Welcome Bruce!

He's here!
He’s here!

Bruce is a Hammerhead shark that upon first glance looks a little intimidating and sometimes scary. Sharks are not the mindless eating machines that movies make them out to be. He is a warm water shark that came into this world in Bahamas. Over the years this top predator has been traveling the world educating the public that sharks are our friends. He decided the best way to get the word out is to go where the divers hang out. Bruce’s travels have taken him all over the world “hanging out” in hundreds of dive shops across the country. His travels have brought him to Venice Dive Center. He will be our Ambassador from the ocean here to greet our customers each and every day.

Please stop in and meet Bruce. He will be “hanging out” at the shop waiting to meet you.
